First look at ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’

The New York Times has the first images from Timur Bekmambetov’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Sadly, they do not show any vampire action, but the photos give us an idea of how star Benjamin Walker looks in the film. The look of the film seems pretty historically accurate. Based on these images alone, you might think you are looking at stills from The Conspirator.

The plot of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is exactly what it sounds like and is based on the novel by Seth Grahame-Smith (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies). While the supernatural/literature mash-up thing is getting a bit old, I am endlessly amused by this one because of that Party Down episode where Breckin Meyer talks about a movie in which Edgar Allen Poe and Abe Lincoln team up to fight vampires. In fact, it dangerously tiptoes on intellectual property theft.

Poe actually does appear in the novel, but unfortunately not for long. Just image the potential - a raging alcoholic poet and a 6’4 bearded president staking vamps in old Baltimore? Sign me up!
