YouTube user TheFireRises has posted four viral videos allegedly tied to The Dark Knight Rises, the much-anticipated third installment in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. The authenticity of these videos has not been verified but given the production value and the fact that this same sort of viral marketing was used to promote The Dark Knight, I'd be surprised if it turned out to be fake. Regardless, they are entertaining and intriguing. Let's take a look....
In this first video, fires rage in Gotham. Make sure you stay until the end....
A lot of people seem to think that chanting is Spanish for "Bane, mátalo!" or "Bane, kill him!" The League of Shadows perhaps? Also, look closely at 0:30 and see a figure standing up on top of the building. Bane, perhaps?
This second video features Anthony Michael Hall as Engel, a television anchor from the last film. It appears that Bane has escaped from prison:
The third video just features some more Gotham madness with police, yelling, and more chanting:
And finally, this video features some prisoner in black hoods being transported, presumably before the break-out:
In at least one of the videos, a web URL appears: http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Fire-Rises/219657001385788. In the photos, there is the picture featured above of Matthew Modine as Nixon. Could easily have been doctored, but who knows - maybe not.
