San Diego Comic-Con has brought us yet another wonderful gift, this time in the form of a trailer for Knights of Badassdom. This fantasy-comedy-adventure has been much anticipated by geeks and genre film fans for months. Joe Lynch (Wrong Turn 2: Dead End) directed the film, which stars such fan favorites as Ryan Kwanten, Steve Zahn, Peter Dinklage, Summer Glau, and Jimmi Simpson. The plot is as follows:
In this comedic fantasy adventure, Joe (Kwanten) is a heavy metal rocker who's just gone through a painful breakup with his girlfriend, Beth (Margarita Levieva). His concerned roommates (Zahn, Dinklage) kidnap him to their LARP (Live Action Role Playing) gathering, where he enters a realm of fantasy escapism in which pretend knights, elves, and barbarians clash with foam weaponry on a mock battlefield. When Joe's "sorcerer" roommate (Zahn) inadvertently summons a deadly succubus that takes Beth's seductive form, bloody reality crashes down upon their fantasy world. Once LARPers start to turn up dead, the make-believe wizards and warriors must join forces with other adventurers (Glau, Danny Pudi) to become the real life heroes they have been pretending to be and conquer the unleashed evil.
If Role Models taught us anything, it's that LARP jokes are still funny. Now throw in the supernatural and some gore and voila! Here's hoping Badassdom is everything that Your Highness should have been:
