After the release of that meh poster earlier this week, the red-band trailer for Spike Lee's Oldboy is finally here. It looks a lot like its Korean predecessor, but it remains to be seen if that will be a good thing or a bad thing. I am not a big fan of Lee, but I love this cast. As always with remakes, I intend to keep an open mind and give it a shot (unnecessary as this remake may be). Take a look at the red-band trailer below:
It's a lot of what we've already seen - clearly geared toward unfamiliar filmgoers - but here's hoping what we don't see yet will set it apart from Park Chan-wook's brilliant film.
One fun thing about this: I keep playing 'catch the Sharlto Copley.' He's like Waldo. I was NOT expecting the look(s) he's sporting or that accent! Interesting. Oh, and he shows up in some surprising places (like here - spoilery if you haven't seen the original).
