"Fresh Meat" Horror Hottie of the Month: Michael Fassbender

Editor's Note: I frequently see horror websites that only recognize the heterosexual male portion of their audience with "Hottie of the Week" features showcasing stuff like Danielle Harris in a Maxim spread. Hey, I love the ladies of horror as much as any guy, but why not: a) realize some of your readers like the "D"; and b) also pay tribute to that person's accomplishments as well as their sexiness? That is why I started this feature called "Fresh Meat" to honor horror's more masculine hotties. If anyone would like to suggest a hottie, feel free comment below or email me! -Heather

He may not be known for horror these days but Michael Fassbender has done his fair share of horror and has looked goddamn good doing it! In fact, one of the first movies I saw him in was Eden Lake (my original review), a fantastic survival horror pitting him and Kelly Reilly against vicious teenagers. Before that, his biggest role Stateside was as Stelios in 300 (aka the "...then we will fight in the shade" guy).

Fassbender has been a continuous favorite in genre films, from Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds to Neil Marshall's Centurion. His turn as Magneto in X-Men: First Class was what finally sucked me into full-blown obsession with the actor. He has also worked with great genre filmmakers like Steven Soderbergh (Haywire) and David Cronenberg (A Dangerous Method). One of his best and most memorable roles to date was that of David 8, the blonde-haired android from Ridley Scott's Alien prequel, Prometheus - a film I fucking love despite all the vitriol it gets. Now, Jonah Hex, there is a steaming pile that deserves all the hate it gets but Michael was still pretty damn good in it. He just steals everything he is in!

Aside from Eden Lake, "Fassy" also appeared as the villain in the Nazi horror flick, Blood Lake, and in the British horror/fantasy series, Hex as a seductive fallen angel. On the more dramatic side, Fassbender has of course done amazing work with director Steve McQueen in Hunger, Shame, and 12 Years a Slave (for which he is Oscar-nominated this year). One of his best and least seen performances is in Fish Tank, about a teenager seduced by an older man.

Next up for Mr. Fassbender is the lead role in the Assassin's Creed movie; quirky comedy, Frank (in which he wears a giant fake head); and an adaptation of Macbeth by Justin Kurzel (director of The Snowtown Murders).

His undeniable talent aside, let's face it - Michael is gorgeous. Born in Germany and raised Irish, he's the equal parts seductive/brooding and adorable/dorky. Throw in those stunning blue eyes, ginger hair (I especially love the ginger beard when it makes an appearance), his sharky smile, and that accent for the perfect man. And we're not even going to discuss the 8-inch elephant in the room....on to the eye candy!!
